Born and raised in Utah, Shane has long been drawn to handcrafted traditions and hobbies, especially those rooted in the 18th and 19th centuries. What began as a casual interest in blacksmithing quickly became a full-time passion. The act of heating steel and shaping it by hand—creating forms that no other art can replicate—proved deeply satisfying, almost addictive.
In 2010, Shane founded Hobble Creek Forge to pursue this passion professionally. Since then, he’s become a dedicated member of the Utah blacksmithing community, serving as Vice President and President of the Bonneville Forge Council. He’s also a proud member of the Artist Blacksmith’s Association of North America (ABANA).
Shane has performed blacksmithing demonstrations throughout Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming, and finds great joy in teaching this age-old craft to others. His work includes architectural commissions, handcrafted housewares, historical reproductions, and fine furniture that thoughtfully integrates wood and forged steel.
Outside the forge, Shane’s heart belongs to the outdoors. He’s an avid fly fisherman, climber, and history enthusiast, and deeply values time with his family. His personal touchmark—an outline of the Teton Mountains—symbolizes all these passions, etched into every piece he creates.
